CALAMITY JANE
Saddle up for a rip-roaring trip to the Wild West as North Manchester Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society (NMAODS) brings the beloved musical Calamity Jane to the stage this October. Packed with warmth, humour, and classic songs, this lively production tells the story of the larger-than-life frontierswoman Calamity Jane as she rides into the town of Deadwood and turns life upside down. With memorable numbers including “The Deadwood Stage” and “Secret Love,” audiences can expect a feel-good musical adventure full of charm, laughter, and heart.
This production is directed by Lindsay Lowe, with musical direction by Jon Gibson and choreography by Jayde Rylance, promising an energetic evening of music, dancing, and classic musical theatre storytelling. With colourful characters, a spirited score by Sammy Fain with lyrics by Paul Francis Webster, and a talented local cast, NMAODS invites audiences to step into the dusty streets of the American frontier for a night of unforgettable entertainment.
Performances run Tuesday 13th to Saturday 17th October 2026 (including a Saturday matinee) at the NWTAC Theatre, 270a Lightbowne Road, Manchester, M40 5HQ. CEILIDH NIGHT
Get ready for an unforgettable evening of music, laughter, and lively dancing at our upcoming Ceilidh Night this June 2026. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a seasoned dancer, this event is all about coming together, having fun, and enjoying the infectious energy of traditional ceilidh music. With a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of chances to join in, it’s the perfect night out with friends, family, or fellow society members.
You don’t need any prior experience to take part—every dance will be clearly explained before it begins, so you can jump straight in with confidence. Calling will be done by David Taylor; an experienced Ceilidh caller and dance teacher based in Manchester, specializing in Scottish Country and Scottish Ceilidh dancing. His expert guidance and engaging style ensure that everyone feels included and keeps the dance floor moving all night long.
Expect a fantastic mix of traditional tunes, energetic group dances, and a brilliant social atmosphere that will have you smiling from start to finish. So grab your dancing shoes and come along for a night full of rhythm, community spirit, and great fun—you won’t want to miss it!
